Water was delivered in the trailer shown in the lower right of this image, carried behind a truck or under a helicopter. Delivery was sporadic so the mess (food) got first shot and any remaining was for individual use. Army purified water tasted of chemical and carried a large dirt load that settled out over hours. The mess section supplied some water for drinking but most was mixed with Kool-Aid or presweetened iced tea(with no ice) to hide the dirt and foul taste. To this day I will not drink either!
