Christmas Tree 2

Lt. Doug Miller is leaving a meeting with 1st Sergeant Jones and someone I do not recognize. He was a good officer to serve under as he did not believe in separating himself from enlisted men and treated each with respect. He commanded FDC but was popular with most men, no matter their job assignment.

The other officers were not well liked and several hand grenades with names on them were left in the officers’ bunker. “Fragging” or officers killed by their own men was much talked about in Vietnam but seldom occurred. Our Executive Officer and later Battery Commander was hated by most men and several grenades with his name on them showed up.
