Eagle Flight 11

A small part of an infantry company stayed behind at the firebase each day to protect it. The enemy seldom attacked in the light so grunts slept, repaired equipment, wrote letters and relaxed. Jungle rot of the feet was a major problem so they walked around in flip-flops keeping their feet dry. Herbicides and petroleum based soil binders kept them from going barefooted.
