Eagle Flight 1

A Huey crew was 2 pilots and 2 machine gun operators; it carried 6 passengers. Company sized operations required that each helicopter carry 2 loads to the landing zone (LZ). Landing and takeoff are low speed and the most vulnerable to attack. Enemy soldiers hidden in the LZ attacked as the first run was landing. Their objective was downing the helicopters to prevent the other half of the infantry company’s arrival.
