Eagle Flight 3 | |||
Herbicides such as Agent Orange defoliated the jungle and bombs dropped from B-52’s made deep craters. Many infantry operations from this base were to assess the damage done in B-52 raids. B-52 raids loosened timbers in our bunkers when the bombed area was within 1 mile. When the target was farther, a bomb run gently shook our firebase like an earthquake. On occasion B-52 pilots spent a night in a firebase to experience the business end of their work. Many pilots wished for a ground attack to complete their combat zone experience. | |||
