Accurate 105mm fire required setting 6 howitzers in formation on a spot that could be precisely located and described in grid coordinates on our map. Computations of gun settings begin with that known spot. Accurate artillery fire and computing corrections based on observer data will be impossible if our gun location coordinates are wrong.
