Malaria was rampant in Vietnam. We took a quinine-based orange pill on Monday and an experimental drug, Dapsone, the other 6 days. Diarrhea followed soon after swallowing the small white pill and some men chose to risk the malaria over having the runs and accompanying abdominal pain.
