Saigon February 1969 3

This is my first viewing of an international traffic sign. I had no idea what it was or that they existed. Traffic used both sides of the road in both directions with the largest vehicle getting the right of way. Some intersections were circles merging 4 or more roads and produce the most chaotic lane changing imaginable.

The contrast of modern buildings with the grass homes of rural Tay Ninh was like black to white. Other parts of Saigon were shanty shacks shoulder to shoulder, several layers high, continuing to the horizon. The worst neighborhoods were along the rivers and my driver would not peddle into them. Fear in his eyes was all I needed to accept his refusal
