Saigon February 1969 5 | |||
Much of Saigon was this dense in human beings moving on foot and bicycle. Vehicles larger than a motorcycle were almost exclusively American owned. Size is king was the Golden Rule of the road and made riding on the front seat of a bicycle dangerous on main roads. My driver stayed on streets like this, peddling slowly, weaving around slower bicycles and pedestrians. This was my first time being around Vietnamese without being armed and I never fully relaxed. Taking a graduate school admission test was my reason to be away from my unit and a fellow test taker was very familiar with Saigon. We toured the city after testing was done for the day, enjoying carnal knowledge and steak. Study, study, study! | |||
