The Drive Home 1 | |||
Infantry soldiers arrive home after a day’s work. Likely they had been walking around from point A to point B looking for things hidden and being used as bait. Should the enemy choose too fight it took very few minutes for artillery to hit, helicopter gun ships and jets to arrive and the enemy had no effective answer to those weapons. Most enemy attacks were over very quickly. Hide well or die were the options for attackers so they used booby traps for their safety. Our infantrymen were good at breaking an ambush without help. Even the first minutes were deadly for the enemy. Looking at a firebase from the outside and imagining attacking it scared the hell out of me. I do not know how soldiers could keep it up as they lost many dead and wounded each attempt. Our infantry out on a hike was a better prospect to attack but not by much. | |||
